Mykonos Island, Greece – a fashionable summer hotspot, famous for its crystal blue waters, sun drenched white sand beaches and intimate coves, white washed cubist architecture, and unsurprisingly, for attracting an uber cool vacationing crowd.
Despite being smaller by comparison to its big hitter neighbours Santorini and Naxos, Mykonos (approx. 100km²) manages to combine traditional Greek fare with extreme style and glamour. This island knows how to party elegantly (think Bao’s, Semeli or Caprice Bar), as well as a healthy share of gay bars (Porta and Babylon are worth a visit) which continue heaving well beyond day break and don’t really get started till at least 3am for those bringing their party A-game!
Situated in Ornos, a sheltered bay of turquoise waters and fine white sand just 2km away from the town of Mykonos, lies KENSHŌ BOUTIQUE HOTEL & SUITES – a recent, sumptuous addition to the island hotel scene. This is a no-brainer decision on where to stay, and comparisons with another of my fav hotels, the ‘1 Hotel’ in South Beach Miami with the white washed stone walls combined with natural wood and intelligent design, come to mind.
Kenshō (a Japanese zen term where ‘ken’ means seeing and ‘sho’ means nature) offers 35 individually designed rooms and suites of meticulous, yet relaxed design by an A-list squad of interior designers including Kenneth Cobonpue (who can count Brad Pitt as a fan), Patricia Urquiola, MOOG, Gervasoni and Foscarini to name a sample of the dream team design contributors.
With luxurious beds you will struggle wanting to leave (if not for the few steps beyond to your private plunge pool or Jacuzzi perhaps), state-of-the-art tech features with complimentary Wi-Fi internet, and luxury Hermes toiletries which may involve a small heist at the end of your stay, you’d be forgiven for not wanting to leave your private surround of peaceful basking in the sun while book binging or enjoying customised i-pad music lists, interjected with quick dips in your private plunge pool (or hotel pool).
Exceptional gastronomic experiences can be found at the award winning Kenshō Restaurant, and of course, enjoying a relaxing cocktail at the pool bar or sunset lounge is mandatory (though unlikely to be a forced decision!).
Let’s not forget the hotel offers a fitness centre for the actively inclined, and rejuvenate body and mind at Kenshō Spa or pamper yourself with a beauty treatment.
Thanks to our partners, J.MAK Hospitality, our clients receive the added complimentary bonus of a 45 minute head & back massage for two, a complimentary bottle of local wine, plus complimentary arrival/departure transfers! When planning your next vacation with us, Kenshō Boutique Hotel & Suites should be firmly on your Mykonos radar!
While in Mykonos you should…
Wander through the beautiful and much photographed ‘Little Venice’, the town’s historic 18th century district, and enjoy sunset drinks at one of the bars (perhaps Scarpa Bar or Caprice Bar).
Explore the great photo op of the historic Church of Paraortiani and the famous windmills along the coast.
Stroll along Matogiannia – claims to be the most famous street of the Aegean, offering numerous bars, restaurants, jewellery shops and high end boutiques. Partake in some of the impressive nightlife on offer and dance till dawn.
